I got involved with the
Folding@Home project on January 12th, 2005. I read about it on
Mac OS X Hints in the
forums section of the site. There are other similar types of projects such as one called
SETI@Home, which has been around longer, but I feel that the
Folding@Home project has a much more worth while purpose.
When I originally created the team it was called Ozzieburn_FAH_on_X, but as you can see that was entirely too long, and I also had a linux box I wanted to fold with, so the "_on_X" was dropped. That name was much easier to say, use, and also remember. But, as you can see it was changed again to Team_Ozzieburn, which happened on October 7th, 2006.
As mentioned earlier, this team was formed on January 12th, 2005. I wanted to fold with multiple computers and I wanted to be able to keep track of them easier, so I created my own team, which is number
41990. Over the years I have been participating in the project, it has not been entirely consistant. There have been a couple long gaps of not contributing any work units to the project. Even with these long gaps though, I still feel like I have contributed because I have made it fairly far up the charts, especially when you consider the old computers I am using.
